My friends who have known me have started wondering if NLP is moving me away from my faith!
Nothing can be further from the truth. NLP to me is like any other science. You can be a doctor, an engineer and learn how things work while you continue to maintain your Faith in God.
The tools of NLP doesn’t operate on the World itself, it merely works on our perceptions of the world and in creating choices for you to have newer states and behaviour in your present situation. The more NLP exposes that the Map is not the Territory, the more I stand in Awe of God. Such beautiful design that the engineer in me can admire endlessly!
I have been subject to a various epistemologies, school of thoughts and philosophies through culture, school, friends, movies, reading. Why did NLP appeal to me even as a high school kid when from probability I could have chose to follow so many other disciplines?
The answer is in how NLP is aligned with my own faith. Please note this is not a distortion. I appreciate the differences. I am merely outlining the similarities.
Both NLP and my Faith
are based on well formed rules that are later only to broken artfully!
are a song of Freedom and Hope
are more of the person involved than just the tools
appreciates Human Intuitions
There is much to write. But for now I would like to conclude with this beautiful passage from the Bible.
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
And obviously. I stand of the firm belief that there is life after death. And your faith not only prepares you for the life here on earth but also for life ever-lasting.
I am thoroughly amazed how people can imagine such a thing? How does studying the science of what makes people do what they do and how to equip them with more choices, interfere with anyone’s faith?
Yes, I do believe in God, the creator, but I do go to a service center for tuning my car, and visit my dentist for my teeth checkup. I know I am preparing people to strategically be ready with the capabilities and choices they need for time-compression and better outcomes, just like an engineer design a car.
And in my heart I know, the horse may be made ready for the day of the battle, but Victory rests with the Lord. I will continue to predict and equip people with the capabilities they require. But I will not promise or fortune-tell a future and that is where I draw the line between what I know I can do and what I know is from the Lord.
